I have decided to return to MyFitnessGoal.org to continue the story of my training and development as a focused, well-rounded athlete. Since the crash and my subsequent internment to the sofa, I have languished a bit in my fitness. Although I have definitely lost much of the edge of last summer, I believe the strong base of fitness is just a few inches under the surface, and I need only to strip away a few layers of dust and procrastination to unleash the beast, so to speak.
I was reading Brothers Karamazov this evening, continuing the tradition of Dostoevsky that followed me this summer, and I happened upon a quote, actually taken from the Bible, but fitting. It caused me to think about my the chief joy of my life, the focus of my energy, the goals I have set for myself.
If I forget thee, Oh Jerusalem,
let my right hand forget her cunning.
If I do not remember thee,
let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth;
if I prefer not Jerusalem above my chief joy.
