I'm typing this entry with only my right hand, because my left arm is done up in a sling and fairly immobile. Today I broke my bicycle again: the front wheel is completely demolished from hitting a goofy shaped diagonal pothole. I was on my way from Coopersville, MI to catch a ferry at Muskegon to get across Lake Michigan, when the trip abruptly ended with trip to the emergency room. The weather was great; I was cruising comfortably; I was well on my way to another big day. The road thought otherwise, and after a couple of bounces on the highway, my body got the message. I am resting at the Enlow's in Coopersville, awaiting my flight back to Seattle, where my father will be picking me up to drive back home to Wenatchee for surgery to repair my left clavicle. It is considerably shorter now than it was this morning (about three centimeters) and this is apparently a problem that requires a surgical solution. I also experienced a few minor superficial abrasions and got to have a fun time with a saline flush and a bottle of hydrogen peroxide. Now I'm wrapped up like a mummy getting ready to hit the sack, or more accurately, gingerly lay myself on the sack in as non-violent a way as possible.
