Day 60? - Soaking in Syracuse

So, something happened with my counting, since today is actually July 13th, the 60th day of my trip, but it has been three days since my last entry. I suppose this is to be expected, but I still wonder if I made a few days up or if I just miscounted. Anyway, I'll catch you up on what happened after leaving Warren, PA.

Day 59 - Allegheny Mountains, Old but not Feeble

Departing in a gentle mist, I left Meadville en route to Warren, a 70 mile ride, but through some substantial hills. The mist turned to rain, but only brief showers, and returned again to a steady mist until around 12:30. The first thirty miles were considerably more difficult than I anticipated, and hence I took nearly five hours to make the halfway mark of Corry. Along the way, as this is Amish country after all, I saw an occasional horse and buggy, one in particular with a brightly colored umbrella standing in ostentatious contrast to the simple, black wagon.

Days 57-58 - Hot, Muggy, and Pennsylvania

I put in 112 sweaty miles through traffic-filled Ohio, slid down a ridiculous 15% grade hill in northern Akron, then rode up its brother a few miles later, probably only 10% for a mile or so, to get to West Branch State Park, which charged a ridiculous $20 for a campsite, much higher than any state park previous.

Day 56 - Raining Inside My Tent

I left Tiffin and almost flew the next 30 miles toward Republic; I think I must have averages 15 mph for almost two hours. This of course resulted in a decided slowdown around the 95 mile mark for the day, but I was getting close to the campground, or so I thought. That is to say I was close, but I kept making wrong turns and for some reason the roads in the area had no names but merely numbers, which is not what the computer told me before I left Tiffin.
