Day 1 - May 15th

Today I discovered how not to pack my bike trailer. After almost crashing violently only a quarter of a mile from my house, I immediately got rid of food and backpacking accessories not necessarily imperative to my survival, like a sleeping pad and a ground cover. The bike rode much more comfortably from then on, without wild swing from side to side if I went over ten miles an hour.

Fundraiser

Monday, May 5th I held a small fund raising event to help earn a few dollars to keep my stomach full and my legs pedaling for the next four months. I rode my bike in front of the Eastgate Starbucks from 7:10am until 7:10pm, stopping hourly for five minute bathroom breaks and to refill my water bottles. It was a success in many ways, and I thank all those people who stopped by to talk to me and kept my mind off the aching in my backside.

Departure Date

I will be departing on the first leg of my journey on Thursday, May 15th. I had initially planned to leave Wednesday the 14th, but since Redmond Lacrosse won its quarterfinal game against Eastside Catholic last Friday, I have decided to postpone my trip until after the semifinal match against Seattle Prep tomorrow.
